"With this being my first child, I wasn't sure what to expect as our baby's due date approached. I knew that my biggest role was to be as much as a support for my partner as possible but I didn't have any experience to base this off of. Kari was amazing in being a support for both of us. She was honest about the fact that no two child births are the same but provided us with many strategies and answered every question we had at all hours of the day...and night leading up to the birth. Most importantly, I knew that my partner needed to feel supported. With Kari's presence, my partner's anxiety and stress was kept to a minimum as Kari's confidence, knowledge, experience and her ability to comfort, reassure and support, made the birthing experience an amazing one. Everything moved quickly for us and in the days that followed the birth, everything became a blur as we thought back, but Kari had everything logged to every detail and provided us with a birth story that allowed us to relive and remember the finer details. "Going into the birth of our first child, with no immediate family support available, I was unsure of how to best support my wife. Learning about Doulas and the role they can play in supporting this journey was a huge help. Kari helped ease our anxieties and equipped us with a wealth of knowledge. This included pain management techniques, emotional support, birthing and breathing techniques, and even connecting us with more local resources.
Kari also helped us understand what was happening throughout labor and guide us to make informed decisions on things as they came up. This was invaluable as it allowed us to feel empowered and in control throughout the birthing process.

Having Kari with us during labor was probably the biggest impact for me as a husband. Kari supported me fully and unquestionably during what turned out to be a very arduous labor.
